The Prom: A Hit Broadway Musical
Friday, May 17 - 19, 2024 | 7:30 PM. In a small Midwest town, people are outraged about a teenage lesbian wanting to attend her school’s prom with her girlfriend. While the musical written by Chad Beguelin, Bob Martin, and Matthew Sklar is not based on a true story, it is based on an original concept by Jack Viertel. The musical follows four Broadway actors lamenting their days of fame, as they travel to the conservative town of Edgewater, Indiana, to help Emma, the lesbian student banned from bringing her girlfriend to the high school prom. The importance of authentic and sensitive representation is important to the story.

The show itself consists of two rounds of trivia questions, with a riddle at the end as a 3rd round, and the winner gets a movie I purchased from the Dollar Store. Just silly, nerdy, goofy fun.

Get Out! for Wellness Series: Housenick Memorial Park
Saturday, May 18, 2024 | 10 AM to 12 PM. We’ll walk the new Orange Trail through the south meadows as well as the usual trails. But first, we’re honored again to have historian John Marquette divulge fascinating details about Janet Johnston Housenick’s grandfather, Archibald Johnston Sr, a vice president at Bethlehem Steel. In 1918, Johnston became the first mayor of the united Cities of Bethlehem and South Bethlehem. This enchanting estate was built in 1923.

Hellertown Heritage Day

A joint Hellertown-Lower Saucon Heritage Day is planned for May 18, with Hellertown Historical Society, Lower Saucon Township Historical Society, Saucon Rail Trial and Saucon Valley Conservancy-Michael Heller Homestead.  All four organizations will present various historic activities and displays based on their respective interests. Learn how our early settlers in the area lived and worked.
